Abstract Art
You don’t have to be Picasso to master this trend. Just grab some of your favorite polish shades and have at it. At Proenza Schouler, it was all about randomly freehanded squiggles. Manicurists at Tanya Taylor and Carmen Marc Valvo, on the other hand, created colorful arcs. Then, we saw Miami-inspired lines at Christian Siriano. Source: Allure
Creative Twists on the French Manicure
Few nail artists wanted to bring back the plain old French manicure to the spring 2017 nail trends. Instead, they opted for clever and unique takes on the traditional style, whether by utilizing nontraditional colors or by playing with the shapes.
Celebrity manicurist Miss Pop, for example, painted diagonal white stripes on the models at Marissa Webb, creating a graphic take on the classic French manicure.
Cushnie et Ochs shows asymmetrical white stripes with nude base.
Lastly, my favorite French manicure (possibly my favorite 2017 nails altogether) was on the Carmen Marc Valvo runway, where the tips were in shades of either white in black, but another stripe was added right below the tips, creating a cool graphic effect. Source: Fashionisers
Neat Neon
When you think “neon,” the word “delicate” doesn’t typically come to mind. But because these two bright shades are so close together, the geometric design down the middle is surprisingly subtle. The next time you want to swap out your typical neutrals for something more fun, try this bold idea. Source: GoodHousekeeping
Majorly Metallic
Who needs jewelry? Dress up your nails in heavy metals: rose golds, shiny silvers, and cool coopers. Layer on or use your favorite metallic as a top coat over a more subdued neutral. Better yet, put a twist on the most iconic manicure, and paint a shiny line over a more matte polish—for a look that is most certainly not your Mama’s French. Source: MomTrends
